Running With Scissors, the studio known for the Postal shooter series, canceled a newly announced title only a day after its reveal.
The decision came after players criticized the trailer for looking like it used artificial intelligence (AI) generated images.
The studio stated on X, “We’ve been overwhelmed with negative responses from our concerned Postal community. The strong feedback from them is that elements of the game are very likely AI-generated, and thus have caused extreme damage to our brand and our company reputation”.

The canceled project, Postal: Bullet Paradise, was a spin-off made by an outside studio, Goonswarm Games. Fans quickly pointed out what they believed were AI-created visuals in the December 3 trailer.
The situation became more tense after Running With Scissors recently spoke out against the use of generative AI in game development.
The company stated that audiences deserve transparency into how games are made and should know whether creative work was done by people or by machines.
Following the criticism, Running With Scissors said it decided to end the partnership with the developer. The company added that it wanted to remain open with fans and still plans to move forward with other projects.
