These include long withdrawal times, a lack of ready-to-use Stage 2 proofs, and poor support for cross-chain tools. Floersch wrote that Stage 2 systems “aren’t production-ready” and that the current proofs are not yet secure enough for large-scale use.
He also backed the idea of adding a built-in Ethereum feature that would make rollup verification simpler and more reliable.

Goldfeder explained that Arbitrum was not built just to serve Ethereum, it was created because Ethereum provides a secure and cost-effective base for scaling.
He also argued that Ethereum alone cannot handle the same transaction volume as rollups do. Goldfeder noted that during busy times, Arbitrum and Base together processed more than 1,000 transactions per second, while Ethereum’s main network handled far fewer.
