On November 9, Elon Musk shared a video on X made with Grok Imagine, a photo and video creation tool developed by his artificial intelligence (AI) company, xAI.
The short clip was based on a prompt he provided: “She smiles and says, ‘I will always love you'”. The result was an animation of a woman standing on a rainy street and speaking the line in an artificial voice.
Later, Musk uploaded another video featuring an AI-generated actress, Sydney Sweeney. In the clip, a digital version of her said, “You are so cringe”, though the voice did not resemble Sweeney’s at all.

Some users on X criticized the first video’s emotional tone, with one describing it as “the most divorced post of all time”. Another user said the video is “the saddest post in the history of this website”.
Musk was also the subject of criticism from author Joyce Carol Oates. She responded to a discussion involving Musk and a supporter who defended him against a Texas lawmaker’s remarks about his earnings.
Oates pointed out that Musk rarely posts about things many people find meaningful, such as family, nature, pets, or art.
She wrote that he comes across as “totally uneducated, uncultured”. In response, Musk stated:
Oates is a liar and delights in being mean. Not a good human.
