Buterin also addressed concerns about how Elon Musk’s leadership of X affects freedom of expression.
He stated that turning the platform into a “global totem pole for free speech”, yet allowing it to “become a death star laser for coordinated hate sessions”, undermines the principle of free communication.
Additionally, Buterin backed the idea put forward by the Ethereum Foundation’s AI lead, Davide Crapis, who called for greater openness from X.
Crapis emphasized that if the platform claims to support free speech, it must state its algorithmic objectives. He called for users to be able to understand and adjust those goals.
One part of the proposal involves using ZK proofs to verify that every algorithmic choice on X adheres to predefined rules, without revealing confidential data.
Buterin further suggested that the entire algorithm code be published with a delay of one to two years.
