Ethereum was trading near $2,470 on Sept. 10, still holding most of a late-August rebound. The move higher came fast: roughly 37% in ten days, with a peak near $2,564. Since then, price has paused. That pause is what has traders watching a possible bull flag.

A Bull Flag With a Clear Target

A Reuters technical analysis pointed to that flag pattern. If Ethereum breaks out, the measured move could push toward $3,050. The number is not just pulled from thin air. The $3,040 to $3,060 area has acted as resistance before, so traders already know the zone. That makes the target easier to watch, even if it is not guaranteed.

The setup also depends on what happens near current levels. Ethereum has already climbed above $2,400, and earlier analysis showed relative strength improving against Bitcoin. Institutional demand has returned to some degree, which helps explain why the recent consolidation has not turned into a deeper selloff. Still, the market is not giving bulls an easy path.

The Line in the Sand at $2,350

For this pattern, the failure point is fairly clear. A sustained break below $2,350 to $2,360 would damage the flag structure. It would also weaken the case for a move toward $3,050. So Ethereum is sitting in a tight decision zone. Bulls need to defend support, then eventually push through the recent high at $2,564.

A move above $2,560 to $2,600 would make a run toward $3,000 more reasonable on the chart. Until that happens, ETH remains caught between a bullish pattern and a less forgiving macro backdrop. That tension is what makes the current range worth watching.

$100 Oil Changes the Mood

The broader market is not helping much. Oil has moved above $100, and bond yields are climbing. Investors are worried about inflation from higher energy prices. That is usually a difficult mix for crypto. Higher yields raise the opportunity cost of holding speculative assets, and risk markets often feel pressure when that happens.

Yet Ethereum has not broken down. That resilience stands out. It follows a stretch of stronger crypto activity, including a recent report that Ethereum Layer 2 networks process 94% of network transactions. That does not mean price must go up. It does suggest that activity and demand are still present while ETH pauses.

Now the question is simple. Can bulls hold $2,350 and force a breakout above $2,600? If yes, $3,050 comes back into focus. If not, the bull flag loses its shape, and the market may need another base before attempting the next leg.
