Fragmetric, the Solana-based liquid restaking protocol behind the FRAG token, is trying to calm users down after a messy situation with its points program. The protocol recently suspended its points incentive scheme, which sparked backlash in the community. Now, Fragmetric is saying that its core operations, including the ongoing FRAG buyback, are still running fine and are not tied to that program.

Withdrawal Delays and the Solv Protocol Connection

A big part of the frustration came from people who had trouble pulling out their fragBTC tokens. Fragmetric explained that the withdrawal delays aren’t its fault. Instead, the issue is with how fragBTC is being unwound. That process involves Solv Protocol, which handles redemptions through its own token called zBTC. Fragmetric admitted that everything is taking longer than expected, but it is working with Solv to speed things up and get users their funds back.

Community Response and Communication Failures

The community was not happy with how Fragmetric first handled the suspension. Many users called the initial response irresponsible. Fragmetric seemed to take that feedback seriously. In a statement on its X account, the team said, “We understand the importance of communication and apologize for the confusion our previous announcement caused.” This whole thing shows how sensitive the Solana DeFi ecosystem can be when incentive structures change suddenly, especially when it blocks access to people’s money.

For people holding FRAG tokens, the good news is that the buyback program, which is part of the protocol’s tokenomics, is still active. For those waiting on fragBTC withdrawals, the timeline depends on Solv Protocol’s processing. Fragmetric says it is working with Solv to fix the delays, but it is still a waiting game. Users should keep an eye on official channels from both Fragmetric and Solv Protocol for updates on the zBTC redemption queues.

The Road Ahead

Fragmetric’s latest statement is a clear attempt to rebuild trust. It wants users to see that the points program suspension is separate from the protocol’s actual technical and financial operations. The withdrawal delays are still a problem, but at least core functions and the FRAG buyback are still running. This episode is a good reminder of the risks and communication challenges that come with multi-protocol DeFi setups.

FAQs

Q1: Is the Fragmetric protocol shutting down? No. Fragmetric has stated that protocol operations, including the FRAG buyback, are continuing independently of the points program suspension.

Q2: Why are my fragBTC withdrawals delayed? Fragmetric says the delays are due to the fragBTC termination process handled by Solv Protocol via zBTC, not its own protocol. It is working with Solv to resolve the issue.

Q3: Is the FRAG buyback still happening? Yes. The team confirmed the FRAG buyback program is ongoing and unaffected by the points program changes.
