Eric Migicovsky, known for creating the Pebble smartwatch, has introducedthe Index 01, a compact smart ring that helps users capture thoughts or set reminders.
The stainless steel ring, priced at $75, is worn on the index finger and is activated with a small button on the side.
Unlike devices that are always listening, the Index 01 only records when the button is pressed and held. Once released, the recording stops.

The audio is then processed on the user’s smartphone using Pebble’s app, which runs open-source speech-to-text and AI tools directly on the phone, not through the cloud.
Migicovsky said the goal is to provide a simple memory aid, not a full digital assistant. He sees the ring as a small tool for keeping track of thoughts and ideas that would otherwise be forgotten.
The ring is durable enough to handle daily use. It can stay on while washing hands, in the shower, or in light rain, though it should be removed for swimming. It is water-resistant up to one meter.
Battery life is another focus. Migicovsky said it can last for years without frequent charging. On average, he records about 10 to 20 short clips each day, each lasting a few seconds.
At that pace, the battery could last about two years before needing replacement. When it finally runs out, users can send it back for recycling.
